Joanie M. Anderson
A native of South Dakota, Joanie also lived in Indiana for a period of time, and now resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Joanie comes from a family of artists. Her mother, who painted in oils, entertained nine children on snowy days by drawing for them. "I used to think her hands were like magic", remarked Joanie.
Joanie picked up a brush for the first time 14 years ago. "I found myself going to sleep painting, and wake up painting", she said. Her vibrant, spontaneous paintings reveal her energy, love of life, sense of abstraction and the beauty of freedom to create.
Joanie has studied with many well-known artists. Her works have been shown throughout the country and have received numerous awards. She is represented in many corporate and private collections throughout North America.
She is a juried member of the Arizona Watercolor Society, a signature member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana, a member of the San Diego Watercolor Association and an Associate member of the National Watercolor Society. Joanie was also one of sixty-six artists out of 1400 selected to exhibit one of her paintings in the 1998 National Watercolor Society Show.
